J. K. Rowling – Success story of an amusing fantasy writer
One of the most famous personalities, Joanne Rowling, pen name J.K. Rowling, is a British author, philanthropist, film producer, and screenwriter. Born on July 31, 1965, she is the elder daughter of Anne, a science technician and Peter James Rowling, a Rolls-Royce aircraft engineer. When J.K. was four, the family moved from Yate to the nearby village of Winterbourne.
As jk rowling had a younger sister, she read her stories and eventually, she began creating fantasy stories. Later, in her teenage, she received a copy of Jessica Mitford’s autobiography, Hons and Rebels, as a gift from her aunt. After that, Jessica became the heroine of J.K’s life.
Elaborating about her education, J.K. attended St Michael’s Primary School as a child. For secondary education she enrolled at Wyedean School and College. J.K. was exceptionally studious and good at English. She brought A-levels in English and was the Head Girl. Later, J.K. enrolled at the University of Exeter for an undergraduate arts course in French and Classics. Post her graduation, J.K. worked as a researcher in London at Amnesty International.
Suffering from multiple sclerosis for the past ten years, J.K.’s mother died in 1990. This was the time when she was writing Harry Potter. This had a significant impact on her. She portrayed her feelings while describing Harry’s grief in the book.
J.K. Rowling rose to fame with her super successful fantasy series Harry Potter released in 1995. All the characters have their own emotion-filled stories. Her headmaster at St Michael’s has inspired the Harry Potter headmaster Albus Dumbledore. Hermione Granger’s character in Harry Potter is based on jk rowling herself. As her family situations were not very well at her teenage, her mother had multiple sclerosis, and she had a strained relationship with her father.
Today, J.K Rowling’s writings are among the most influential ones. She has won several awards and recognitions, along with becoming the best-selling book series in history. Over 500 million books were sold and more & more are adding up.
Apart from this, jk rowling is also a crime fiction writer. She writes under the pen name Robert Galbraith.
